This past year 2013

A lot of events have happened this year in our family.

I have changed job, from working as an Apprenticeship Trainer for Pearson to working doing the same job for Just IT based in Liverpool Street / Aldgate area of London.  It's fun and demanding, and I'm teaching mainly computer support and some programming to candidates.  Link is http://www.justit.co.uk/apprenticeships

I'm also playing in the worship band at the church mainly on keyboard but sometimes on bass guitar.

I'm even more regularly involved in the Street Pastor ministry (http://www.streetpastors.org.uk/) and do this about monthly, patrolling the streets of Enfield, Palmers Green and Southgate with a team from about 9pm onwards late nights Friday/Saturday nights.  It's fun and engaging work, and very rewarding even though we're unpaid.

Kids are growing up fast

Philippa is 12 now (in December) and has started High School, Enfield County all girls school literally next door to her primary school (High School link is http://www.enfieldcs.enfield.sch.uk/index.shtml).    She's enjoying it and has made good friends already.

Christa is 10 and has advanced in Street Dance as well as Philippa and Philip who all go on Friday nights.  It's aimed at young people to give them something constructive to do with their lives as a hobby, rather than destructive activities.  All three of our kids go there on a Friday night and really enjoy it, particularly Christa.  Christa also has been going on some free school trips to Imperial College in London where she has been giving presentations as well as learning a great deal.  Christa starts High School in September.

Philip is 8 and enjoying life!!!  He loves playing computer games and is pretty expert in them as are many boys his age.  He also does the Street Dance and is getting on well.  He's near the top of his class at school, as is Christa and Philippa.

John and James are 5, nearly 6 in January 11th.  They are both enjoying life and are in Year 1 at school.  They also love games and will play for hours on end, chatting noisily to each other about it non-stop.  We have to put an end to this!!!

Hannah is now 3 (16 December just passed) and also loves life and is a ball of fun, playing all day long when and where she can.

Zoe and myself just work hard at home looking after our kids, that's the main part of our life at the moment although I find time, before work, to hit the gym on a working day when I can, and I have been going this for a number of years now so am feeling extremely fit and healthy.

That's about it from the Anderson family for 2013!!!

We love you all

Spent about 10 hours doing my family accounts for the last two and a half months over the last few days ! ! !

_2013 Diary Entry 2013_04_19 Well I slogged away here today and yesterday and finally did hours and hours and got my accounts totally entered from 1 Feb up to 19 April that is about 2 months 19 days which is a lot of input ! ! ! Feel good that if I really put my mind into something now I seem to be able to focus better; this is all to do with getting up early.  If the Lord commands me to get up at 3am then who am I to disagree.  In actual fact I do get to pray and to seek the Lord and to stay on top of ALL the work I need to do to support my family both at home (ie all the domestic chores and bills and letters and emails etc) but including all the tasks I have to do at work ie prepare for lessons etc which are, to be honest, much better done at home than at work!!! It’s a strange world we live in to be sure ! ! !

Hi - just a quick note to wish you well and to let you know I just started a new and exciting job working for http://www.justit.co.uk/ as a technical trainer last month!  It's gone really well so far and it's not too bad travelling into London again although I must say I didn't miss it.  Also Philippa has been accepted for Enfield County Girls School in Enfield when she begins secondary school in September 2013.

Update Sunday 20 May 2007

Christa is 4; Philippa is now 5 1/2 and Philip will be 2 soon in a few months!!! Time is moving on !!! The family is growing up fast - it is hard to keep pace with the changes; never a dull moment

Philippa is very mature, but is hampered by Christa's immaturity and Christa tends to tear down Philippa as a form of defence. The funny thing is that they may play for an hour or more and all of a sudden breaks down in tears but once that is resolved often they start playing again.

Christa in her defence also is a very nice, peaceable, fun-loving girl and always wants the best for her and others. It is unfortunate to her that Philippa is dominant and restricts Christa's 'space' which means that Christa, for her own preservation's sake has developed a rather effective method of tearing into Philippa in time of conflict.

In general I have evolved a simple hierarchy to allow peace in the home; Philip the youngest has top priority in a conflict, then Christa then last Philippa. So if Philip wants on the computer let him, and if Christa is fighting with Philippa for a toy in general I just instruct Philippa to release it for Christa to give back once finished using it.

Also with regards to morning prayer; not very frequently but desire to be more - get up and pray with Zoe and together we both pray for the kids as they are sleeping!! Find it makes a real difference to the girls when we do this.

Posts up to January 1 2007 inclusive (moved from another blog!

New Year 2007 Update

We are all well here at our flat in Enfield and I worked during the non-bank holiday days over the festive period but other than that had an enjoyable
time. Philippa is now 5 and can add up 2 digit numbers (eg 34+16) vertically which I'm quite pleased about as I try and make them do little bits of numbers or reading/writing most mornings before the day begins. Philippa is a very smart and buoyant girl who attracts gifts from children at school -
she received a Pooh bear for a Christmas present and the girl who gave it to Philippa was not even one of the girls that Philippa had made close aquaintance with and so Philippa did not even know the girl's name! She has just also received a huge necklace from someone else!!! Christa is 3 (nearly 4, in April) and likewise is doing well although a little more sulky than
Philippa! They both play for hours and hours interspersed with crying at
each other for a perceived offence! Baby Philip is 1 and a half years old now and a livlier more humorous character I do not know - he can sit on the
floor when I tell him to do so but promptly gets up the moment my eyes turn away again! He also writes on the walls but other than that is brilliant just to be around and all the girls in our church adore him!

We have a beautiful Ford Mondeo 2 litre black automatic and someone ran into the back of it! The amazing thing was that the front of the offending car
was crushed quite badly but our car suffered literally only paintwork damage!!! Zoe was shaken but otherwise unhurt, as was the offending driver
who it turned out was uninsured and passed fake contact details etc on to Zoe in the street who was shaken badly enough to let him get away without
cottoning on to the fact that he was faking the fact that he was offering to call the police if Zoe wanted to. Zoe eventually said no, let's settle privately but of course the first thing I did was to check his mobile and it
was invalid; went to his address and someone else lived there as well! Our insurance told us that his registration was showing as uninsured. But at
least Zoe and the car were relatively unscathed during the incident, just our pockets were financially put out of sorts!

Passed CCNA Qualification Last Month!!!

90% achieved for CCNA which is supposed to be a hard exam!!! I studied long and hard for it, and it paid off! I am well pleased with this result and it means I can now focus upon the Microsoft exams - 70-292 MCSA, 70-296 MCSE as well as MS Exchange finally in a month or two depending on how I pass the first two.
Well pleased!
Philip
